Indradhanush Magazine: Professor Ram Prakash

An outstanding Indian Pedagogue, who became the pioneer to mauritianize the educational curriculum in Mauritius as early as in 1950’s of the 20th century. He had been recruited by the colonial Govt. of India to set up the Department of Indian Languages, Indian Culture and Indology in Mauritius. It is under his guidance the oriental language teachers were trained and recruited by the Govt. and the teaching was started in a scientific way in primary schools in 1954, and in secondary schools in 1974. He also produced the “ Navin Hindi Series “ [Book 1 to 6] meant for primary schools and these were acclaimed as the best text- book for they contained the required knowledge of the Geography, history, the fauna and flora of Mauritius, the civic elements and the essence of Indian culture and civilization.
