Leoville L'Homme: The first national poet of Mauritius

This special issue is dedicated to the poet of French expression whose greatness cannot be questioned by anybody. His passion for religious literatures was superb. He had studied the Bible, the Vedas, and the Koran with the same zeal and wrote several poems on immortal heroes and heroines of these scriptures. He was one of the most proficient prose writer. As a militant journalist he indulged in politics for some time. He was bubbled with energies and had great capacity for work. He edited a literary journal for three years and at last assumed the office of librarian at the Municipality of Port Louis.
