Editor, writer & historian from Mauritius island
Pahlad Ramsurrun is a prolific writer of international fame. He graduated from the University of Delhi in 1973, and was appointed Education Officer at Royal College, Curepipe, Mauritius, where he became Head of the Oriental Languages.
He is the author of fifty books and more. He writes in English, Hindi and French. His works have been translated into several languages, including German, French, Japanese and Marathi.
His fields of interest are Education, Philosophy, Culture, History, Political Science, and Folk Literature. He has published hundreds of research-oriented essays in renowned Indian and Mauritian journals. He is also a freelance journalist and a regular contributor to several papers. Pahlad Ramsurrun is the chief editor of the trilingual literary quarterly, Indradhanush, published in Hindi, English and French.
He has obtained several prizes for his literary works and was honoured during the fourth World Hindi Convention held in December 1993. He has also represented his country in several international writer’s conferences namely Tashkant, New Delhi and London. He has given lectures on History and Literature in various universities. He was conferred the title of Honorary citizen of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill in 1999, the town where he resides. The President of Mauritius awarded him the title of PMSM (President Meritorious Service Medal) on 12th March, 2005.
