The special issue of Manilal Doctor, the emancipator of the Indians in Mauritius, was published in October, 2007 to mark his arrival centenary on our shores. This issue highlights his overall activities from 1907 to 1911, during which he defended the Indian workers in courts, organized political meetings throughout the country, deported before the Royal Commission, started the Hindustani Paper, raised the Indenture question in the Indian National Congress, founded the Young Men's Hindu Association, the Arya Samaj, and all these were to bear fruits for the emancipation and advancement of the Indo-Mauritians in the 20th century.
