Indradhanush Magazine: Dr Moonishwurlall Chintamunnee

Poet, prose and short story writer, curriculum developer, educationist, freelance journalist, and the writers’ writer of Hindi expression of Mauritius, Dr Chintamunnee possessed a rare flair for Hindi language and Indian culture, and he, in one way or another dedicated his whole life to it’s promotion, preservation and consolidation in Mauritius. Although a General Purpose teacher in Primary schools for ten years at first, he taught Hindi in evening schools and wrote articles as from 1953 in Hindi papers, and he also founded the  “Hindi Lekhak Sangh” {Hindi Writers Association} in 1961. He graduated from Benaras Hindu Vishwavidilaye University in 1970, joined the T.T.C. and later, the Mahatma Gandhi Institute, where he became the head of the Hindi Department. As a pedagogue he devised the curriculum and prepared text- books for Secondary Schools, Diploma, B.A., M.A., and Phd. courses in Hindi at the Mahatma Gandhi institute. He also wrote hundreds of articles in Hindi Papers, produced two dozens of books in the same language and participated in national and international conferences.
